Uniting for Change: Our Latest Efforts at the US/Mexico Border

Hello Friends and Supporters,

We hope this newsletter finds you well. As always, we are deeply grateful for your ongoing support and prayers for our mission at the 13:2 Initiative. Your generosity allows us to continue serving those in need along the US/Mexico border.

Weekly Deliveries to Reynosa

Each week, the 13:2 Initiative makes trips to Reynosa to deliver much-needed supplies to migrant camps. These visits help us stay connected with the communities we serve and ensure we are meeting their most urgent needs. Our support for Senda de Vida 2, Camp Rio, and Casa Lulu includes a wide range of essentials such as food, hygiene products, clothing, tarps, tents, and first aid supplies. Approximately 75% of what we deliver comes from bulk donations, while the remaining 25% are purchased items, allowing us to maximize our financial efficiency. This video shows what these trips are like:

Innovation in Action: Fly Traps for Camp Rio

In an effort to address the fly problem at Camp Rio, we recently embarked on an innovative project. Using 3D-printed fly trap adaptors that screw onto soda bottles, combined with AI-generated instructions in Spanish, we provided a simple yet effective solution to improve living conditions in the camp. This project exemplifies how technology can be harnessed to solve problems and improve lives at no cost.

Our Impact by the Numbers

  • 700 boxes of donated goods distributed in the last 5 months.
  • 25,000+ individual items delivered, improving daily life for countless individuals.
  • Ongoing support for three major camps: Senda de Vida 2, Camp Rio, and Casa Lulu.
  • 5,000 items distributed monthly, ranging from food and hygiene kits to clothing and medical supplies.

Join Us in Making a Difference

None of what we do would be possible without the many partnerships and supporters that join us in this effort. Organizations such as Texas Baptist Men, HarvestCall, Team Brownsville, and the Mennonite Central Committee have all provide material resources. Solidarity Engineering, Restoration Church, AmeriCorps, the leaders at Senda de Vida 2, and so many others have collaborated with us on the ground to ensure needs are being met effectively. Individuals and churches have provided financial donations that allow us to buy the most needed supplies. God continues to provide, and working together we can see lives being impacted.

Please consider making a one-time or monthly donation today at www.thirteentwo.org/donate. Your support makes a real difference in the lives of those we serve.

Thank you for standing with us as we extend a hand of compassion to our brothers and sisters in need.

Blessings,

Kevin McNamara
