Our Work

In the Rio Grande Valley of Texas, there are many different ministries each doing work independently. 13:2 seeks to support those ministries by partnering with them to provide materials to support them in their work. In practice, this means that we receive bulk donations from larger non-profits, store them in our warehouse, and distribute them to missionaries and partner organizations who are on the front lines. If urgently needed items are unavailable in our warehouse, we purchase them from online or local retailers. In this way, we serve as a conduit between (for example) a semi-truck of goods from Texas Baptist Men and a missionary’s hatchback who is driving to a shelter for asylum seekers. We track every box we receive and distribute, so donors can know exactly who picked it up and where it was taken.

Another way that we support these ministries is by purchasing needed items in bulk in anticipation of upcoming needs. For example in 2023, we purchased 10,000 emergency blankets and 3,500 string backpacks. These enable us to respond quickly when the weather gets cold or there is an influx of migrants.

Through our grant program, we provide strategic financial assistance to trusted partners. In this way, we can help meet some of the most urgent needs as they develop.

The final way 13:2 serves asylum seekers is by raising awareness of the migrant crisis nationwide to bring additional resources to the area, and by encouraging churches in their outreach to immigrants living locally in their community.
