Thank you for continuing to follow and support the 13:2 Initiative. We have several updates to share on what God is doing through this ministry.
A Note on Our Transition
In August 2025, my family relocated back to Denver after three years in Mission, Texas. Our time at the border changed us deeply. We witnessed suffering, endurance, hope, and perseverance. We will never forget the stories that we heard and were able to be part of. We are grateful for every person and donation that made that work possible.
The 13:2 Initiative has expanded to Colorado. We are now focused on serving immigrant communities here in Denver while continuing to support our partners at the border.
What We’re Doing in Denver
We have been building a relationship with Tamarac Family Shelter, a shelter home to around 600 residents, over half of whom are children. The majority of the residents are immigrants from Latin America. We have been working to meet needs as the shelter identifies them and have already been able to provide strollers, car seats, and dog food.
They are currently in need of the following items:
- Gloves
- Hats/Beanies
- Socks
- Shoes
- Dog food
- Clothing (esp. toddler through teen)
- Bean bags for a teen area
- Games/Board games for teens
- Car seats
- Strollers
- Formula
If you live in the Denver area and are able to donate any of these items, please reach out and I will coordinate a time to pick them up from you. For those living elsewhere, items can be sent by mail, or via financial donation which we will use to purchase needed supplies.
What’s Happening at the Border
Our work in Reynosa continues. Our board member Osbaldo recently led a team to Senda de Vida 2 to perform maintenance on the infrastructure there. There are very few people at that site right now, but the situation at the border is always changing. We want to support efforts to keep that infrastructure ready for future populations.
Casa Lulu remains a key partner, providing ongoing care for high-need individuals in Reynosa. The 13:2 Initiative continues to provide monthly financial support to help facilitate this important ministry, and our board members remain actively engaged in the area.
